BYD's Battery-Box Premium HVS/HVM towers are modular LFP batteries (5.1 to 22.1 kWh per tower) from the world's biggest EV maker. Proven over a decade in Australia and compatible with many third-party hybrid inverters (notably Fronius), they cost roughly A$900 to A$1,000 per usable kWh installed.
Cons
- No integrated inverter, total system cost depends on pairing
- No native app, monitoring depends on the inverter
Pros
- Broad third-party inverter compatibility (Fronius, Goodwe, Sungrow)
- Decade-long Australian track record, giant parent company
- True modular towers, LFP chemistry

Additional things to note about BYD Battery-Box?
BYD sells the battery only: you need a compatible hybrid inverter, so system price and monitoring quality depend entirely on that pairing. There is no BYD consumer app, and backup behaviour is governed by the inverter, which confuses comparison shopping.
